MILLENNIUM EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER 2006
The winner of the 2006 Millennium Technology Prize, Japanese professor Shuji Nakamura arrives in Finland to receive the prize on 8 September. The award ceremony will be organized in association with an ECOFIN meeting on 8 September. Other related Millennium Technology Prize events include press conference and panel discussion on 8 September, Millennium Youth Forum and Professor Nakamura’s presentation on 9 September and Professor Nakamura’s seminar for technologists on 11 September.

- 10.00-11.00 Press conference at which Professor Shuji Nakamura and representatives of the Millennium Prize Foundation will be present.
- 12.30-14.00 Panel discussion: The Role of Technology in Meeting Global Challenges
Chairman and moderator is Professor Jorma Routti from Finland.
The panelists are Professor Bertil Anderson from Sweden, Dr. Anne Brunila from Finland, Professor Leen Hordijk from the Netherlands, Mr. Jorma Ollila from Finland, Mr. Jason Pontin from the USA and Dr. Charles M. Vest from the USA.
