AINOMAIJA HAARLA APPOINTED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY FOUNDATION
D.Sc. (Tech), MBA Ainomaija Haarla has been appointed President and CEO of the Technology Academy Foundation (Finland). Reporting to both the Executive Committee and the Board of the Technology Academy Foundation, she will take up her appointment on February 16th 2009.
Dr. Haarla is currently the Managing Director of ProConsilium Oy. Before this, she was Vice President of Strategy for UPM-Kymmene Oyj, having also served as Vice President of Business Development of the company’s business operations in Augsburg, Germany. She was also Vice President, Marketing, for Metso Oyj.
Dr. Haarla holds a seat on the boards of Neste Oil Oyj and Altia Oyj, and has been Chairman of the Board of Korona Invest Oy since the spring of 2008.
Dr. Tapio Alvesalo, Secretary General of the Technology Academy Foundation, has been invited to become a member of the Technology Academy Foundation’s Executive Committee when he retires from his current post. Dr. Alvesalo took up his position as Secretary General in 2004 and has overseen both the establishment of the Technology Academy and the process of awarding the Millennium Technology Prize.
