”INNOVATIONS ARE HARD TO FOLLOW”

"Innovations are important for businesses, but it is a tough challenge for a business newspaper," said Kexin Xu.

Xu, or Mark by his western name, is one of the foreign journalists who visited Finland during the Millennium Technology Week. He represents China Business News magazine, CBN Weekly.

"Especially European science and technology is much regarded in Asia, but as a news desk editor and with personal background in journalism, not in science, it is very hard to follow important developments in sciences," Xu explained.

"Like for example here, during the Millennium Technology Week, we speak about microprocessors, plastic electronic, polymers and dye-cast solar cells. Quite tough to follow, and perhaps even more difficult to write so that also our readers would understand the phenomenon and the possibilities that these inventions open up."

Xu, or Mark, hopes he finds also other topics during his visit to Finland.

"We hope to meet Finnish companies that utilise science. We have been to Kemira and Nokia and we are also visiting at least Suunto and Vaisala. I guess that Vaisala's weather technology might be very useful and interesting to our Chinese readers." PV
