POWER TO ALL

“A lot of the cost of electricity is in distribution, so we should generate it where we use it,” said Gavin Tulloch, president of Dyesol International, an Australian company using Professor Michael Grätzel’s innovation, low-cost dye-sensitized solar cells, for example in building materials, like power producing windows. In 2008 Dyesol officially opened its new manufacturing facilities in Australia.

“The built environment uses over 50 % of world’s electricity. We make products that produce power, not power plants,” Tulloch says.We make products that produce power, not power plants,” Tulloch says.

“There is no use for mobile phones in Africa or India, if there is no way to charge them,” added Kevin Tabor, Director of Science and Research at G24 Innovations. PV
