MILLENNIUM CAMPAIGN: ELECTRICITY LEADS POLL OF GREATEST INNOVATION OF ALL TIME
Technology Academy Finland is on a mission to find the greatest innovation of all time as part of the build up to the 2010 Millennium Technology Prize, awarded to humane technologies. At the moment electricity tops the public ranking of most significant innovations.
Which historical innovation do you think has most significantly improved the quality of life on our planet?
The second place is, surprisingly, held by a far newer innovation, the Internet. The top 10 also features another communications technology: the telephone, currently in fifth place. Steam energy is third, surgery fourth and DNA in sixth place.
Don’t agree? There’s still time to have your say at the Millennium Campaign website www.millenniumprize.fi/quest. You can also take part in a draw to win a Nokia Booklet 3G mini laptop. The poll closes on 28 May 2010.
